Definately fedora (or better yet, SuSE).
The only thing I've seen about Ubuntu so far that impresses me is how well marketed it is.

one of the best things abt ubuntu is that it gets loads of support from Canonical. also, its totally free, whereas, Fedora Core has a shipping cost.

You could download ISO's and burn the CD's...

but my point was that not all the people in this world have a good internet connection. half of the people i know in india here get speeds ranging from 2kbps to 75 kbps. we only have very high internet speeds in the corporate sector, in the official buildings.

it will burn a hole in the pockets to download the ISO's. ubuntu is a mere 600 MB, but u can order Dapper for free (edgy cannot be shipped due to LTS of ubuntu).

i also found ubuntu edgy user friendly (i am not biased). i am also using fedora, though not yet upgraded to FC6.

Personally, I buy the disks. If you get them from third party suppliers you can usually find them for less than $5.00.
Too bad I'm not finished with my diskpost site yet...

Another place to get free Linux disks of a variety of good distros is
http://free.thelinuxstore.ca/index.php
They have a cut-off point daily (or else they'd loose scads of money), but if you get there early enough, you can have your choice of Linux disks for free.

^Yeah, that seems to be the usual case there. If you manage to get disks from there, you're lucky.
